"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, a people for his own possession,
that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you
out of darkness into his marvelous light." (I Peter 2:9)

Words
1. Priests of old were consecrated,
Drawing near the holy place,
Purified and dedicated,
Representing Israel&apos.s race.
Now as priests, we all are holy,
Set apart to serve our King.
Drawing near the One and Only,
Faithful lives to Him we bring.
2. Priests of old were never weary,
Tending God&apos.s most holy law;
Keepers of the sanctuary,
Filled with reverence and awe.
Now as priests, we all extol Him,
With devotion all our days.
We now worship as we serve Him;
Sacrificing words of praise.
3. Priests of old prayed for the nation,
Interceding for their sin,
Thanking God for their salvation,
Pleading on behalf of men.
Now as priests, we all implore Him,
Pleading that we will not stray;
With thanksgiving, we come near Him,
Praying that He guard our way.
4. Priests of old informed God's children,
Telling what the Lord had done,
Spreading God&apos.s love throughout Canaan,
Off'ring hope to everyone.
Now as priests, we all proclaim Him,
Guiding sinners to His throne,
Urging others to acclaim Him,
Praising Him, and Him alone!
