Scripture reference

I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold,
all is vanity and a striving after wind.

(Ecclesiastes 1:14)

 .

Words

1. Vanity of vanities! Of work there is no end;
No nights of rest nor days of ease, but following the wind.
There is nothing new underneath the sun,
From the morning's dew until evening's done.

2. Vanity of vanities! Though money could be spent,
Man's souls are tossed upon the seas while following the wind.
Serve and fear the Lord with each passing breath;
Follow and adore walk in His straight path.

3. Vanity of vanities! Unpleasant time is spent
With days of sickness and disease and following the wind.
Look to Him above and obey His Word;
Mercy, hope, and love will in us be spurred.

4. Vanity of vanities! Expressing a lament
And wishing for a day to seize while following the wind.
Hope is in the Lord and in Him alone;
Trust His holy Word, and He will lead you home.
