Scripture reference

The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
(Lamentations 3:25)

Words

Verse 1:
Before her fall, Jerusalem Was crowded with most sinful men;
Almighty God could not ignore The flagrant sins that He deplored.
The people groaned and searched for bread But did not think to turn their heads
And follow Jeremiah's call, But rather waited for the fall.

Chorus 1:
God's love continued to abide; His mercies were renewed.
Salvation for them He supplied And blessings they accrued.

Verse 2:
The lesson is so plain and clear, That ev'ry person needs to hear:
Calamities could soon assail And lamentations could prevail...
So follow Jeremiah's call And pleadings of apostle Paul
To turn to God ere it's too late, And walk upon the path that's straight.

Chorus 2:
God's love continues to abide; His mercies are renewed.
Salvation for us He supplies And blessings we accrue.
